On September 26, 2019, Dr. Nimrod Goren, Founder and Head of The Institute for Regional Foreign Policies (Mitvim), and Mr. Gabriel Mitchell, Research Fellow at Mitvim, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a roundtable meeting. In their speech on the Israeli elections, their effects on the Palestinian peace process and their implications for Turkey-Israel relations, Dr. Goren and Mr. Mitchell shared with the participants their analysis of Israel’s foreign and domestic policies. Assessing the performance of Israel’s political parties in the recent election, Mr. Mitchell stressed that in the event of a change in government from the Netanyahu administration, the new government would likely follow different approach concerning Palestine and foreign relations.

In the second part of the speech, Dr. Goren elaborated on Israel’s changing dynamics with other powers in the Middle East and touched on the decreased political initiative from both the US and the EU following Trump on the Israel-Palestine peace process. Dr. Goren stated that despite various obstacles, the peaceful economic and political relationship between Israel and countries like Egypt and Turkey is still continuing. Following their speech, Dr. Goren and Mr. Mitchell answered the participants’ questions.
