Panel Meeting
March 6, 2024

On March 6, 2024, Prof. Zeynep Alemdar, GRF Member, Professor of International Relations and Head of the Gender Studies Research Center at Okan University, and Founding Director of Women in Foreign Policy Initiative (WFP14); Ambassador Armağan İnci Ersoy, and Ambassador Gabriele Juen, Ambassador of Austria to Turkey, addressed GRF members at a panel meeting organized at the premises of GRF corporate member Güven Hospital at Ankara. Moderated by Prof. Feride Acar, GRF Board of Directors Member, Former President of GREVIO and the CEDAW Committee, the panel entitled “Women in Diplomacy: Success Stories?” examined the recent history of women in the realm of public diplomacy, and discussed how gender inequality reflects on women in related careers.

The panelists stated that statistically, women who are active in peace agreement negotiations or mediation processes tend to be viewed as more egalitarian and honest, and that women whose work in the field of diplomacy should be supported and featured more heavily not just in Turkey, but also around the world. Following their speeches, the panelists answered the participants’ questions.
