Prof. Peter Levine, Lincoln Filene Professor of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Tufts University’s Jonathan Tisch College of Civic Life, addressed GRF and GRF Community members as part of an online roundtable held on 9 June 2026.

The meeting, titled “The Citizen’s Question: Democracy Under Pressure, Collective Action, and What Institutions Cannot Do Alone,” explored the idea that democracy can be understood not only through constitutional institutions, elections, and courts, but also through citizens’ capacities to act collectively, engage in deliberation, and assume responsibility in addressing shared challenges.
