Ambassador (R) Alper Coşkun, Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Tara Varma, Director of the Strategic Foresight Program at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, addressed GRF and GRF Groups members at the online meeting titled “The Future of NATO, Euro-Atlantic Security and Defense Structures” held on 27 April 2026.
The meeting examined the future of NATO and the Euro-Atlantic security and defense architecture in light of shifting strategic balances and emerging risks and threats. In this context, discussions addressed how simultaneous conflicts across different regions and intensifying geopolitical competition are shaping security dynamics, Europe’s pursuit of strategic autonomy, the evolution of US–Europe relations, as well as burden-sharing within the alliance and defense spending.
