As part of the launch of its report titled “Revitalizing Turkey–European Union Relations on the 20th Anniversary of Accession Negotiations: A New Roadmap,” Global Relations Forum (GRF) held a series of high-level meetings in Brussels from March 17-20, 2025.

The article, authored by Prof. Dr. Füsun Türkmen, Vice Chairperson of the GRF Board of Directors, provides an assessment of how U.S. domestic and foreign policy may take shape within the framework of Donald J. Trump’s ideology, policy projects, and early-term implementations.

This Special Report, prepared by GRF member experts and the GRF team, who have extensive experience in diplomacy, academia, and civil society and have actively contributed to strengthening Turkey-EU relations, evaluates the current state of relations while identifying strategic areas of cooperation to revitalize ties on a stronger foundation amid global transformations. By offering concrete policy recommendations for fostering a long-term, sustainable partnership rooted in mutual interests, the report aims to usher in a new era in Turkey-EU relations, rebuild mutual trust, and ensure that dialogue channels remain open to support a stable and constructive process.

"Nanoscience and Nanotechnology: Policies and Strategies for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Turkey," which was co-authored by our member, Prof. Orhan Güvenen, has been published. The book explores the fundamental concepts of nanotechnology, highlights significant global advancements, and provides a comparative analysis of leading countries’ positions.

Our Founding Member, Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the global energy transition and the advancement of sustainable energy policies.

Our esteemed member, Dr. Ezgi Uzun Teker, has been elected to the international academic council of the Argentine Council on International Relations (CARI), a member of the Council of Councils (CoC). She has also contributed to the inaugural issue of Global Affairs/Asuntos Globales magazine, which began publication in December 2024, focusing on ‘middle powers.’

Our Board Member, Mr. Taşkın Osman Aksoy, the Co-Founder and CEO of Linktera Information Technologies, has achieved a significant milestone with Linktera Robotics, a U.S.-based subsidiary of his company launched in 2023. Linktera Robotics has been awarded with the AmCham Turkey Special Jury Award, presented by our Chairperson, Zeynep Bodur Okyay, as part of AmCham Turkey’s 20th anniversary celebrations. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Aksoy and the entire Linktera family, wishing them continued success in their endeavors.

The Fall 2024 issue of the online magazine ’Horizons’, published quarterly by the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD), features the article by Ambassador (R) Yenel on the US elections.

An initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) to bring together think tanks from around the world, the Council of Councils’ (CoC) 2024 Regional Conference took place on October 27-29 and was also attended by Ambassador (R) Yenel representing GRF.

On October 24-25, 2024, Ambassador (R) Selim Yenel attended an exclusive luncheon for AmCham Turkey/ABFT’s "1. AmChams Eurasian Economic Summit" and addressed the summit’s guests as speaker. In his speech entitled "The Future of Cooperation: Regional Strategies in a Shifting Global Order", Ambassador (R) Yenel examined the future of international cooperation.
