On December 3, 2020, Dr. Öz Yılmaz, Founder of Anatolian Geophysical and CTO of GeoTomo, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. In his speech assessing Turkey’s earthquake preparedness, Dr. Yılmaz detailed the relationship between structure and soil with regards to durability. Dr. Yılmaz stated that the construction materials used in building structures in Turkey have to transition towards light materials like structural steel, and reminded local municipalities of their responsibilities in improving their soil infrastructure. Following his speech, Dr. Yılmaz answered the participants’ questions.
