On March 3, 2022, Dr. Sabina Alkire, Director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), addressed GRF and GRF Community members at an online meeting. Speaking on how to fight against global poverty, Dr. Alkire shared with the participants how poverty looks like on a global scale through data collected from over 100 countries for the Multidimensional Poverty Index, and how the inequality it creates can take shape along gender or ethnic lines. Stating that the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the economic, educational and social losses in poorer countries, Dr. Alkire detailed what can be done to lessen global poverty. Following her speech, Dr. Alkire answered the participants’ questions.
