On January 22, 2024, Dr. Mahfi Eğilmez, Former Undersecretary of the Treasury & Altınbaş University Faculty Member; and Prof. Dr. Selva Demiralp, Koç University Economics Department Faculty Member & Koç University - TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum Director, addressed GRF and GRF Community members at a panel meeting moderated by Tayfun Bayazıt, Chairman of Bayazıt Management Consulting, Chairman of Marsh McLennan Group, TÜSİAD High Advisory Council Member & GRF Board Member, at Şişli Tekfen Tower. In the panel meeting entitled “Looking Ahead to 2024: The Turkish Economy in the Framework of Global Developments”, the panelists shared their thoughts on Turkey’s current economic situation and assessed how the economic policies adopted by the Central Bank in 2023 will extend into 2024. The panelists stated that the return of more orthodox monetary policies is a positive development, but cautioned that this orientation should continue after the March elections in order to improve Turkey’s overall financial health in 2024. Following their speeches, the panelists answered the participants’ questions.
