Ziad Haider, Partner and Global Director of Geopolitics at McKinsey & Company, met with GRF members on October 2, 2026, at a roundtable titled “Strategic Foresight and Geopolitical Scenario Planning: Rethinking the Corporate Decision Calculus in a New Era of Geoeconomic Volatility.” The meeting opened with remarks by GRF Chairwoman H. Zeynep Bodur Okyay and was moderated by GRF member and journalist Afşin Yurdakul.
The discussion focused on the implications of growing geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainty for corporate strategic decision-making. Framed around strategic foresight, scenario planning, and geopolitical resilience, the discussion explored how companies can anticipate risks, prepare for alternative scenarios, and strengthen their long-term decision-making capacity in response to shifting global dynamics.
The meeting also examined how geopolitical developments are affecting different areas of business, from supply chains and investment decisions to changes in public policy and market strategies. Particular attention was given to the importance of developing decision-making mechanisms that not only respond to existing risks, but also systematically assess alternative scenarios and identify emerging opportunities in a timely manner.
