Online Meeting with Dr. Stefan Mair

Dr. Stefan Mair, Director of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), addressed GRF and GRF Community members as part of an online meeting titled “Europe Alone?: Defense, Deterrence, and Geoeconomics in an Era of U.S. Retrenchment”, held on 16 April 2026.

The meeting focused on U.S. intentions toward Europe, Europe’s defense capacity, options for nuclear deterrence, and geoeconomic tools. The sustainability of the Russian threat, the proposal for a European Security Council, and Türkiye’s role in the European security architecture also emerged as key topics of discussion.
