Ambassador (R) Sönmez Köksal, a founding member of GRF, addressed GRF members at a roundtable meeting held on November 27, 2025, at the GRF Office on the occasion of his newly published book Baghdad Diary: Critical Years for Turkey, the Middle East, and the World, 1986–1990.

The meeting was moderated by GRF member and journalist Sedat Ergin. In his remarks, Ambassador (R) Köksal shared his assessments across a broad range of topics, including the historical background of Turkey–Iraq relations, diplomatic negotiations, water agreements, trade arrangements, the Kurdish question, and the regional security architecture. Following his speech, Ambassador (R) Köksal answered the participants’ questions.
