H.E. Joep Wijnands, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Turkey, addressed GRF members on April 22, 2026, in Ankara as part of a luncheon titled “Turkey and the Netherlands: Allies on the Precipice of a New Global Order.”

The meeting addressed the future of Turkey–EU relations in the context of a shifting global geopolitical landscape, as well as the evolving role of NATO and the transatlantic security architecture. Discussions focused on Europe’s strategic direction, Turkey’s growing geopolitical and security role, and opportunities for cooperation in economic and defense domains. The modernization of the Customs Union, Turkey’s participation in European defense initiatives, and key areas of bilateral cooperation were among the prominent topics highlighted during the meeting.
