Canan Ediboğlu had her secondary education at Ancaster
House School and studied economics in Southampton University (Bsc),
receiving her Masters Degree (Msc) in Financial Managerial Control in
the same university. She started her professional career as the Research
Assistant at the Southampton University and returned to Turkey in 1980
when she first joined Shell to be appointed as the Planning Manager.
After working in various departments of Shell Turkey, mainly marketing,
treasury and planning, she assumed the position of the Treasurer in
1992. She was appointed the General Manager of Shell Turkey in 2002 in
addition to her responsibilities as the Finance Director and in June
2002, the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Turkey. Upon incorporation
of Shell % Turcas Petrol A.Ş. (STPAŞ), a joint venture company between
Shell Turkey and Turcas A.Ş., in July 2006, Ediboglu assumed the role
of the Country Chair of the Shell companies in Turkey and board member
of Shell and Turcas , in addition to her board membership to other group
companies in Turkey. She retired from Shell in June 2009 and since her
retirement has been advising foreign energy companies in their
investments in the Turkish market and has taken up the role of
non-executive advisor in Accenture, a major global management
consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. She is the
former president of PETDER, Turkish Associaton of Petroleum
Industrialists and the Chairperson of the Petroleum Products Industry
Council of TOBB (Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges). She
is presently board members of a number of NGO’s including World
Wildlife Fund (WWF) Turkey , YASED (Foreign Investment Association) and
one of the founding members of EMBARQ( Istanbul Sürdürebilir Ulasım
Merkezi) and Common Purpose. Ediboğlu is married with two sons.
