Ambassador (R) Tahsin Timur Söylemez has over 30 years of experience in foreign policy, international relations and diplomacy.
He has served in key diplomatic postings across North America, Europe, Latin America and Africa, including tours in Brussels/EU, New York/UN and Washington, D.C.
He has, since 2013, served as part of the senior management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, holding positions such as Ambassador of Türkiye to Mexico (2017–2022), Director General for Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus and Central Asia (2022-23), Director General for the Americas (2023), and the founding Director General for International Mediation (2024-25).
Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in many high-level negotiations concerning priority areas for Turkish foreign and security policy. His areas of focus have included Türkiye–US relations, Turkey’s EU accession process, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, transatlantic security and defense, the UN, trade and tourism promotion, defense industry, multilateral diplomacy, as well as conflict resolution and mediation.
Ambassador (R) Söylemez assumed his position as President of the Global Relations Forum (GRF) in April 2026.
